UTICA – Eugenia Grigsby sacked 21 points in leading the HindsAHS Lady Bulldogs to a 45-34 Tuesday night win against Loyd Star’sLady Hornets in Region 6-2A basketball action.

In the varsity boys game, 14 points by Eric Christmas led 5Bulldogs in double figures as they whipped Loyd Star 87-55.

Loyd Star hosts Madison St. Joseph Friday for Region 6-2A action. AJV boys game starts the tripleheader at 5 p.m.

The Lady Hornets (3-14, 0-2) got 14 rebounds and 13 points fromjunior post Tyrisha Patterson. Senior guard Erica Smith scored 13points and made 3 steals. Maggie Redd had 7 rebounds. Natalie Smithmade 3 assists.

Coach Billy Vaughn’s Lady Hornets were down 15-12 at halftime.Hinds AHS outscored them 18-6 in the third quarter.

The Hornets (2-12, 1-1) got a game-high 27 points from TerionWilliams. They got 4 rebounds from Jerrod Bullock, Zack Smith andWilliams. Smith had 5 assists.

“They pressed us the whole ballgame,” said Loyd Star coach Gene(Moochie) Britt. “When you don’t have good ball-handlers, you’re introuble.”

The Bulldogs led 38-18 at halftime.
