West Lincoln routs St. Al

VICKSBURG – The West Lincoln Lady Bears and Bears captured twoRegion 7-1A wins Saturday night in basketball action.
The Lady Bears (10-7, 2-0) managed to hold off the St. AloysiusLady Flashes for a 41-32 victory.
In the boys’ game, The Bears (17-0, 2-0) crushed the Flashes78-34.
West Lincoln resumes action today, hosting the Sebastopol Bobcatsfor another regional matchup. Tipoff is 6 p.m. with the girls,followed by the boys.
Monday night’s game against the Mississippi School of the Deaf werecanceled due to the weather. The game will be rescheduled at alater time.
W. Lincoln 41, St. Al 32
Senior guard Karli Herrington pumped in 17 points to lead the LadyBears. Senior forward Katie Mullins provided 15 points and grabbed6 rebounds.
“We have to compete harder and play together,” said West Lincolncoach Lane Young. “The last two games we started really well andwent flat. St. Al outhustled us in the second half, which is reallydisappointing. We need to do the little things right to be the teamwe can be.”
Allie Willis was the top scorer for the Lady Flashes with 10points.
W. Lincoln 78, St. Al 34
Senior guard Jay Case knocked down a game-high 23 points andgrabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Bears. Lucas Burris contributed adouble-double on the night with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Burrisalso blocked three shots. Jared Case added 16 points.
“We were sloppy and out of rhythm in the first half, but the secondhalf we really turned up the pressure,” said Young. “Our defensewas really good and we ran the floor very good and got some easybaskets.”
Sean Johnson was the leading scorer for the Flashes with 14points.
In JV action, the West Lincoln Bears flattened the Flashes 44-11 asSam Bivens led the way with 17 points. LeKeith Ward contributed 7points.
The Flashes were led by Douglas Bustard’s 7 points.
