Funeral services for Thelma R. Smith, of Union Church, were 10a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on JacksonStreet, with burial in Union Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, 84, died Jan. 16, 2011, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born on Sept. 7, 1926, to Truly Smith and GertrudeCovington Smith.

She was a garment factory worker. She was a member of Union ChurchBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, CharlesMoore and Percy E. Smith; and two sisters, Doris Smith and LorraineWest.

Survivors are her daughter, Peggy Thames and husband, Ethan, ofRuth; her son, David Moore and wife, Brenda, of McCall Creek; twobrothers, Truly Earl Smith and wife, Dixie Jean, and Dean Smith andwife, Glenda, all of Brookhaven; her sister and caregiver, AudraColey, of Union Church; nine grandchildren, Renee, Linda, Bo,Tracey, Tina, Anita, David, Keith and Brett; 12great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
