Brookhaven Academy overpowers ASC Rebels

Terah Winborne scored 15 points and Anna Katelyn Mangold 13 inleading the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars to a 65-19 Tuesdaynight trouncing of the Amite School Center Lady Rebels in John R.Gray Gymnasium.

The Brookhaven Academy boys also won big as the Cougars crushed ASC63-33, powered by Gage Posey and Brock Smith with 15 and 14 pointsrespectively. Jeff Rushing added 12 points and Zach Thornhill11.

Brookhaven Academy resumes play Friday night at Bowling Green inFranklinton, La.

The Lady Cougars (19-2, 6-0), coached by Barry Gray, raced to a48-4 halftime led over the visitors. Mary Lindsey Magee had 7rebounds in the victory. Haley Langston, Laura Beth Wright andWinborne had 5 rebounds apiece. Summer Calhoun dished out 6 assistsand Winborne 4.

Marlee Touchstone’s 13 points led ASC in scoring.

The Cougars (11-7) got 6 rebounds apiece from Smith and Thornhill.Smith also had 5 steals and 4 assists. Matthew Evans and Posey eachhad 4 steals.

Coach Dale Watts substituted early but his team continued rollingas they took a 32-7, first-quarter lead and coasted to a 45-13halftime bulge.

Fourteen points by Trevor Coleman led the Rebels in scoring.

Junior High Results

In the junior high girls game, BA crushed ASC 46-9 as MadisonWarren pumped in 19 points, including 5 treys. Ashton Rials added 6points and Mary Claire White 5.

Lindsey Winborne handed out 5 assists and Warren made 4 steals inthe victory. Anna Carollo had 4 rebounds.

ASC got 6 points from Rebecca Olive.

BA’s boys beat ASC 49-18 as Zac Smith sacked 17 points. RossForeman chipped in 8 points and Landon Nettles 7. William King had5 points and Caleb Brown 4.

ASC got 5 points from Dakota Gressett.
