Funeral Services for the Rev. Albert Wilson Winstead, of Byram,are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at First Baptist Church inBrookhaven, with burial in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery inFranklin County.

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 21, from 6 until 8 p.m. at RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service in Brookhaven and Saturday, Jan. 22, at 10a.m. at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

The Rev. Winstead, 80, died instantly in a car collision whileleaving Chancellor Funeral Home after ministering to a member ofhis congregation at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Florence. He wasborn in Rankin County on Sept. 28, 1930, to James Hardy Winsteadand Gladys Huff Winstead.

He graduated from Crossroads High School, Clarke Memorial JuniorCollege and Mississippi College. He also attended New OrleansBaptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La., for a year. Hemarried Bobbie Warren Winstead while at Clarke Memorial JuniorCollege. They were married for 52 and one half years before herdeath on Jan. 9, 2002. Later he married a long-time friend,Geraldine Lipscomb Hutchins.

The Rev. Winstead served as a Baptist minister to churches inMississippi and Georgia for more than 60 years and was stillpastoring at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Florence.

“He loved the Lord and he loved people. He was passionate aboutsharing his faith and loved going on mission trips to help buildchurches and work on other Baptist ministry projects with CBMIMissions in Brookhaven,” said his children.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Bobbie WarrenWinstead; his sister, Bobbye Ruth Haley; and his great-grandson,Christopher Scott McGraw.

Survivors are his wife, Geraldine Lipscomb Hutchins; his son anddaughter-in-law, Charlie and Sue Winstead of Jonesboro, Ark.; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Bobbye and Dan Wynn of Natchez, LindaParman of Brandon and Betty and Billy Little of Brandon; hisstep-children and their spouses, Mike and Angela Hutchins ofFranklin, Tenn., Steve Hutchins of Madison and Lisa and EddieLangley of Clinton; his grandchildren, Daniel Ashley Wynn, JoyWynn, Anthony and Cherie McGraw, Scott and Angela Little, Zebulonand Nancy Winstead; his step-grandchildren, Elise and Kyle Walleyand Lee, Nick and Zack Hutchins; seven great-grandchildren; onestep-great-grandchild; his sister, Dorothy Winstead George; and hisbrother, James Winstead.

Pallbearers will be Anthony McGraw, Scott Little, Zebulon Winstead,Lee Hutchins, David Sullivan, Steve Hutchins, Mike Hutchins, EddieLangley and Larry Lipscomb. Honorary Pallbearers will be hisBaptist minister friends and his Wolf Hollow golf buddies.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent toCBMI Missions in Brookhaven or Clear Branch Baptist Church inFlorence.
