Funeral services for Michael Vernon Herring, of Brookhaven, are11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel, with burial in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Herring, 50, died Jan. 20, 2011, in Lincoln County. He was bornin Vicksburg on Sept. 25, 1960.

He was a retired paramedic and a member of Macedonia BaptistChurch. He was a graduate of West Lincoln School and a graduate ofCopiah-Lincoln Community College as an EMT-P. He was along-standing member of the Loyd Star Volunteer Fire Department asa firefighter and first responder. He was a Red Cross volunteer anda HAM radio operator with the Southwest Mississippi Amateur RadioClub.

Preceding him in death was his father, Vernon Herring; his maternalgrandparents, Francis and Tom Winborne; his paternal grandparents,Lois and Bert Herring; his nephew, Justin Barksdale; and hisgrandmother-in-law, Florene “Nana” Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Maria Herring, of Brookhaven; his mother,Yvonne Winborne Herring, of Brookhaven; his sons, Robby Herring, ofNashville, Tenn., and Chris Herring, Michael Herring and BradleyRogers, all of Brookhaven; his sisters, Cheryl Aucoin and husband,Troy, of Tylertown, and Theresa Cooper and Brenda Watts andhusband, Chance, all of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, 2-year-oldGage Herring and 5-year-old Kali Herring; his mother-in-law andfather-in-law, Pat and Paul Renfro, of Brookhaven; hisgrandfather-in-law, Allen “Cotten” Smith and wife, Iris, ofBrookhaven; his brother-in-law, Charles Renfro and wife, Melanie,of Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
