Funeral services for Johnny Earl Smith, 80, of Natchez, who diedThursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital will be 1p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, from Laird Funeral Home Chapel withthe Rev. Dan Wynn and the Rev. Wiley Reid officiating.

Burial will follow at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in McCallCreek under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. Jan. 28, 2011, fromthe funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born May 19, 1930, in Lucien, the son of John R.Smith and Ella Strait Smith.

Mr. Smith was employed with Natchez First Federal Savings And Loanfor numerous years prior to his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mytra WilsonSmith.

Survivors include his one daughter, Chandra Harmond; his twograndsons, Wilson “Wil” Harmond and Thomas Harmond, all of SugarHill, Ga.; his two brothers, Donald R. Smith and wife, Rickey, andRoy Smith and wife, Lucille, all of Natchez; and his numerousnieces and nephews.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. JudeChildren’s Research Hospital or Natchez First Baptist Church.
