BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto faculty, fans and familyconducted a ceremony for Senior Night to honor their basketballseniors with showers of gifts in R.L “Bob” Calhoun Gymnasium Fridaynight. The seniors were Toy Smith, Josie Porter, Aneshia Dillon,Darcy Miller, Bradi Davis, Ashley Bickham, Tesheon Rogers andTeareon Rogers for the varsity girls’ team.

On the boys’ squad were Chris Hall, Garrett Wallace, EmmanuelMagee, Javier Gee, Tevin Gee, Tevin Tobias and Colby Johnson.

After the ceremony, the Lady Cats quickly got down to business anddrained the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave for a 64-17 win inRegion 7-1A basketball action.

In the boys’ game, the Bobcats overcame a sluggish first half tocapture the lead in the third quarter and held on for a 54-46region win over Natchez Cathedral.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats resume action Tuesday traveling acrossBogue Chitto road and Jackson Liberty road to face theircounty-rival the West Lincoln Bears. Tipoff is 6 p.m. with thegirls game, followed by the boys.

The Cathedral Green Wave returns home to host the St. AloysiusFlashes.

BC 64, Cathedral 17 <<br /> The Lady Cats (23-1, 8-0) cameout on fire and quickly set the tone of the game as the seniorsharvested an 26-7 lead in the first quarter.

Center Tesheon Rogers pumped in a game-high 24 points and grabbed 7rebounds to lead Bogue Chitto. Guard Josie Porter provided adouble-double with 13 points and 13 assists. Aneshia Dillon netted12 points. Teareon Roger was the leader on the boards with 10rebounds.

“We came out ready to play,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “We dida very good job both offensively and defensively in the firstquarter. Our seniors represented us really well and ourunderclassmen gained a lot of experience.”

Junior guard Ginny Daggett was the leader for the Lady Green Wave(7-13, 3-5) with 7 points.

“We did not come out ready to play,” said Natchez Cathedral coachBernita Dunbar. “We had a poor night shooting. We have a lot ofthings to improve on before we enter the district tournament”

The Bobcats (16-8, 6-2) started off the game sluggish, beforegaining momentum in the third quarter when they hit fourconsecutive three-pointers to capture the lead and never lookback.

Germie Martin and Emmanuel Magee knocked down 11 points apiece tolead Bogue Chitto.

“We played a lot better in the second half,” said BC coach JeremyHarrell. “In the first half, we started off the game on the wrongfoot and had a tough time finding our rhythm. We still have somethings to work on to better ourselves before the districttournament begins.”

Junior forward Carl Hammitte pumped in a game-high 22 points tolead the Green Wave (8-12, 2-6).

“Third quarter killed us,” said Cathedral coach Peter Arnold.”Bogue Chitto managed to find their stroke in three-point range asfour different players knocked down some huge shots. After that, westruggled to regain our focus. Overall, I was very pleased with oureffort in the first half.”

In JV action, the young Bobcats flexed their muscles and quicklyplugged the Cathedral Green Wave for a 48-24 victory. DarriusMartin was the hot hand for Bogue Chitto with a game-high 26points. Eli Holmes and Jeremy Blackwell contributed 6 pointsapiece.

Jamon Gray and Devin Toussaint were the leaders for Cathedral with8 points apiece.
