Funeral services for William Carlton “Le’roi” Greer Sr., ofVidalia, La., were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Laird FuneralHome Chapel in Natchez, with Bro. C.D. Beard officiating. Burialwill follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Greer, 73, died Feb. 4, 2011, at his residence. He was bornJan. 3, 1938, in Brookhaven, to William Carey Greer and Lucy EdnaCarlton Greer.

He was a deputy with Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Department,dispatch and captain with Concordia Parish Fire Department No. 2.He was a member of Bougere Baptist Church; captain of Deer Parkneighborhood watch; charter member and captain of Station No. 8with Concordia Parish Fire District No. 2.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Helen RasberryGreer; his brother, Amos (Butch) Greer; his son, Harry Brown; andhis daughter, Rita Brown Perrault.

Survivors are his daughters, Maria Greer of Vidalia, CarletteWilliams and husband Cliff of Natchez, Lori Hubright of Vidalia,Helen Brown Thrash and husband Scott of Hattiesburg, Monica Rushingand husband Ken of Richland and Shawny Brown Clevland and husbandJason of Sardis; his sons, William Carlton Greer Jr. and wifeJennifer of Houston, Texas, and Bill Brown and wife Carol of BatonRouge, La.; and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren,including those who knew him as “PaPaw Le’roi;” his sister, CookieGreer Gathings of Birmingham, Ala.; and his dear friend, MaryGreer.

Active pallbearers were members of the Concordia Parish Sheriff’sDepartment and Concordia Parish Fire Department.

Honorary pallbearers were Shell Greer and Captain Le’roi’s DeerPark First Lieutenant (Louie).
