W. Memphis nips BA boys

Senior guard David Robilio shot the lights out again Saturday.He scored 41 points, sparking the West Memphis Black Knights to a75-72 win over the Brookhaven Academy Cougars in the MAIS Class AAState Tournament’s consolation game.
Marshall, the No. 1 seed out of the North, beat Simpson Academy55-45 in the title game.
“Rohilio is a very good player,” said BA Coach Dale Watts. “Theyshot the ball well.”
Watts said his team played extremely well after losing to Marshallin Friday’s semifinals. “Our plan was to let them play. We had somemental lapses in a close game. Overall, our guys did well.”
Jordan Blann of West Memphis sank a trey with 30 seconds left toplay. The Cougars missed a few shots and made some turnovers in thefading seconds.
Offensively, Sidney Chaffin and Gage Posey powered the Cougars with25 and 23 points respectively. Matthew Evans chipped in 11 pointsas BA took a 40-39 halftime lead..
Posey led the boardwork with 16 rebounds and Chaffin had 11.Matthew Evans and Jeff Rushing each had 4 assists.
The Cougars, who were seeking a seventh straight Class AA title forWatts, finish 18-12.
Watts loses one senior starter to graduation in Chaffin.
