A young woman from Wesson passed away Thursday after battlinginjuries sustained in a car wreck at the beginning of theweek.

Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart said Crystal Gooch, 20, of 2018East Railroad Ave., died of respiratory failure at University ofMississippi Medical Center at 3:44 p.m. Thursday. She was beingtreated at the hospital since her involvement in a car accidentSunday.

Natalie Davis, spokesman for Copiah-Lincoln Community College whereGooch attended school, said the student was well known and liked bystudents, faculty and staff.

“Any time we lose a student or someone at Co-Lin, it hits us veryhard, especially with Krystal being from Wesson,” she said.”They’re a very tight-knit group and it’s really affected a lot ofour students.”

Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service, are incomplete.
