“Our field was in good shape Friday,” said BHS coach Randy Spring.”We had tarped it and the little rain we got didn’t make muchsign.”

It was a different story Saturday morning as heavy thunderstormsinvaded Southwest Mississippi, canceling the remainder of thetournament.

Junior right-hander J.B. Perkins (1 K, 5 BB) picked up the win, giving up 3 earned runs and 2 hits. Houston Case (1 K, 0 BB) gotthe last 2 outs of the third inning.

At the plate, Perkins, Gabe Wilson and Dillon Newell each had 2hits for BHS. Losing pitcher Preston Shelton slapped a double forthe game’s only extra-base hit.

Shelton didn’t get much help from his teammates as the Bulldogscommitted 5 errors.

The Panthers didn’t commit an error in the contest and that kind ofdefense pleased Spring. “We did a good job handling the ball.”
