Ray said women are requested to bring their teacup and saucerand their hats and gloves, and join the fun on that day.

Center patrons were hard at work preparing for the tea lastWednesday.

“Today, we are sewing chair covers for the chairs in thecenter,” said Ray.

About 15 people gathered throughout the day to assist in theproject.

Bonnie Brown, a center volunteer from Brookhaven, said projectslike that made patrons feel like they were doing “somethingworthwhile.”

“We feel like we’re doing something good for the community,”said Brown.

She said the center was doing good work each day.

“We are getting people involved,” she said.

Ray said the tea was one of several events the center hasplanned for spring.

“We typically do events like that two or three times a month inaddition to our regular activities,” said Ray.

She added that people who are interested in getting involved incenter activities can stop by the center and sign up for theirphysical newsletter or e-mail list.

“We want seniors to come by and pick up a calendar or newsletterany time and get involved with us,” she said.

The center is located at 201 S. First St. and is open Mondaythrough Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
