Enterprise nips Lady Cats

The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets slipped by Lincoln Countyrival Bogue Chitto’s Lady Cats in the seventh inning with a 6-5victory in softball action Tuesday night.
“This was a battle between two good teams,” said Enterprise coachCharissa Burke. “I am proud of the girls for battling hard. Theykept pushing themselves to get the win.”
The Lady Jackets (9-3, 5-0) resume action Thursday hosting theMadison St. Joseph Lady Bruins for Region 6-2A action. Game timebegins with junior varsity at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity gameat 6 p.m.
The Lady Cats (9-7, 2-0)) will take a break before returning to thediamond Monday to host the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes for Region7-1A action. It will be a varsity game only, beginning at 6p.m.
Enterprise 6, Bogue Chitto 5
Softball fans saw two good teams battling hard to give theirschools a big win. The Lady Jackets and the Lady Cats pulled outall the stops.
Enterprise had to fight back in the sixth and seventh innings,after Bogue Chitto extended its lead to 5-2. In the bottom of theseventh inning, the Lady Jackets managed to get the bases loaded onBogue Chitto and pushed the tying run home when Kaitlin Moak hit afielder’s choice to score Karla Beth Hux safely. Two plays later,with the bases still loaded, Hannah Moak scored the winning run ona wild pitch.
Hannah Moak collected the win for the Lady Jackets with fivestrikeouts and three walks. Toy Smith suffered the setback for theLady Cats with three strikeouts and one walk.
Hux provided the offensive spark for Enterprise with two singles.The Lady Jackets got singles from Taylor Nelson, Kayla Britt,Kelsey Hux, H. Moak and K. Moak.
Smith was the offensive leader for Bogue Chitto with a double.Alexis Givens contributed two singles. Bradi Davis and MattieAvants belted a single apiece.
“We made too many mistakes at crucial times in the last twoinnings,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. The Lady Cats committed fiveerrors in the game and Enterprise had three.
In JV action, Bogue Chitto crushed Enterprise 11-0 as ChristianBlack pitched the win for the Lady Cats, collecting four strikeoutsand three walks.
Lauren McCaffrey took the loss for the Lady Jackets with fourstrikeouts and four walks.
Mallory Allen and Hailey Estess were leaders for the Lady Cats witha double apiece. Hitting safely were Lauren Wallace, Kerri McGeheeand Zariah Matthews.
