Lady Cats wallop Nanih Waiya

LOUISVILLE – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats mauled the Nanih WaiyaLady Warriors 7-0 Thursday night in the opening round of thequarterfinals in a best-of-three series of the MHSAA Class 1A statesoftball playoffs.
“We played an all around good game,” said Bogue Chitto coachScott Leggett. “We got some big hits and played well defensively.Rheagan (Welch) pitched a great game for us on the mound.”
The Lady Cats (18-7) return home today to host the Lady Warriors(17-12) for game two beginning at 5 p.m. Game three, if necessary,will immediately follow.

The defending state champion Lady Cats wanted to get somerevenge on Nanih Waiya after suffering a close loss to the LadyWarriors earlier in the season during a tournament game at EastWebster.
Bogue Chitto came out and set the tone early in the first inningwith one run. The Lady Cats posted runs in the third, fifth andseventh innings.
Rheagan Welch (9-1) was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chittowith 10 strikeouts and four walks. Brantlie Sheets suffered theloss for the Lady Warriors with one strikeout and one walk.
Shortstop Josie Porter provided the offensive spark for the LadyCats with a double and three singles. Alexis Givens added fuel tothe flames with a double and a single. Mattie Avants belted adouble. Adrienne Wallace smashed three singles. Hitting safely wereBradi Davis and Alana Nettles.
Nanih Waiya was led offensively with two singles from RyanHoldiness.
