Funeral services for J.P. Moak, of Bogue Chitto, are 2:30 p.m.on Saturday, May 14, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in BogueChitto, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Aspecial visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 1:30until 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Moak, 70, died May 12, 2011, at his residence. He was born inLincoln County on July 15, 1940, to Malcolm McKinley Moak and VelmaWelch Moak.

He was a graduate of Bogue Chitto High School, Co-Lin JuniorCollege and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was alongtime deacon and teacher at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where heserved his Lord faithfully. He enjoyed hunting, fishing andumpiring softball games. He thoroughly enjoyed watching all of hischildren and grandchildren play sports.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, NeldaWallace Moak; and a son-in-law, Keith Kent.

Survivors are his wife, Mattaleen Robinson Crosby Moak; hisdaughters, Darlene Miller and husband, Timmy; Denise Kent; DeedraBales and husband, Daniel, all of Bogue Chitto; and Deborah Pierceand husband, Jerry, of Hattiesburg; his step-children, Diane Andingand husband, Gene, of Wesson; Jean Moak and husband, Earl, of BogueChitto; Bruce Crosby and wife, Kathy, of Saratoga, Tex.; TracyRoberts and husband, Robbie, of Bogue Chitto; his brothers, HueyMoak and Louie Moak; his sister, Janice Phelps, and honorarysister, Faye Moak; he was the proud grandfather of 20 grandchildrenand 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews andfriends; his mother-in-law, Aline Robinson, and many sisters-in-lawand brothers-in-law; and special friends Rita and Stan Long.
