Johny Lois Hancock Parsons, 93, passed away May 21, 2011, at theGolden Living Center – Brook Manor in Brookhaven.
Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. atHartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb. The Rev. Rick Kennedy willofficiate. Burial will be in Middleton Creek Cemetery in FranklinCounty.
Mrs. Parsons was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Franklin County. She wasthe daughter of the late John T. and Linnie Pittman Hancock.
She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Middleton Creekand retired from the Kellwood Corporation as an inspector. She wasa happy person with a child-like quality. She never met a strangerand always had a smile. She loved life, the holidays and flowers,especially ferns.
Mrs. Parsons was a natural mother who loved her family andchildren. “She was a kid with kids.” She will be sadly missed bythose who loved her.
She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Carol Maxwell Parsons;six brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter, CandiceParnell.
She is survived by two sons, Maxwell “Max” Landau Parsons and wife,Sandra, and Darrell Joirdanio Parsons and wife, Judy A. Parsons;three grandchildren, Teresa and David Matthews, Jenny and JoeBuffington and Ronnie J. Hall; eight great-grandchildren, MeaganMatthews, Cody Dye, Christi Dye, Camille Rutland, Chaney Rutlandand Austin, Shawn and Triston Buffington; and one great-greatgrandchild, Canon Dye; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Matthews, Cody Dye, Ricky Price, RonnieJ. Hall, Austin Buffington and Glenn Bird.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Heights BaptistChurch for their building fund at P.O. Box 649, Summit, MS39666.
