Daniel Miller ‘D. M.’ Hawkins Jr., of Brookhaven, died Tuesday,June 14, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17, atPleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome on Natchez Drive.

Mr. Miller was born on Aug. 28, 1922, in Jefferson County to DanielMiller Hawkins Sr. and Orah Young Hawkins.

He retired after 45 years from public relations with SouthwestElectric Power Association. He was a United States Army veteran ofWorld War II, a member of the Eastern Star and a Mason.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Jewell Tarver Hawkins, of Brookhaven; hisson, Miller Lee Hawkins, of Brookhaven; his daughter, Diane HawkinsFriday, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; his grandchildren, Amanda Sanders,of Hazlehurst, Chad McGregor, of Little Rock, Ark., and MatthewFriday, of Broken Arrow; and many nieces, nephews and otherrelatives.
