Woman killed in accident

An early Saturday accident claimed the life of a McComb nativewho was living in Brookhaven, emergency officials said.

Deputy Coroner Robert Tyler said he pronounced Sabrina Lemieux, whowas living with her boyfriend at 1002 Beeson Dr., dead at 8:45 a.m.on Saturday following a one-car accident on Highway 583 nearEnterprise Attendance Center.

“Her parents are from McComb, but she was staying with herboyfriend in Brookhaven,” said Tyler. “She left the boyfriend’shouse around 3 a.m. Saturday.”

Lemieux, 22, was traveling northbound on Highway 583 when hervehicle, a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, left the roadway and struck atree, said Tyler.

“She was ejected from the vehicle,” he said.

Tyler said he was unsure of the exact time of the accident.

“I know someone stopped a Lincoln County deputy and told him aboutit,” he said. “It was reported at 7:22 a.m.”

The call was then forwarded to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. MHPPublic Affairs Officer Staff Sgt. Rusty Boyd said troopers weredispatched at 7:23 a.m.

“Apparently, she ran off the right side of the road first and thenoff the left side,” he said.

Boyd said it appeared that once she had left the right side of theroad, she overcorrected and then lost control of the vehicle.

“She then crossed both lanes of traffic, ran off the left side ofthe road and struck a tree,” he said.

Boyd said Lemieux was not wearing a seatbelt. Tyler said Lemieux’sboyfriend Jake Johnson identified the body.
