James Corbett ‘J.C.’ White

James Corbett “J.C.” White, of Brookhaven,went home to be with his Lord on June 21, 2011, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center in Brookhaven.

    He was born on April 6, 1926, to James Corbett White Sr. and LulaWall White. He was a lifetime member of Holly Springs BaptistChurch where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He wasan Army veteran, having proudly served his country in World War IIunder General George C. Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He wasawarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in that battle atthe young age of 18.

    Mr. White was retired from Lincoln County as a heavy equipmentoperator.

    Visitation will be 5 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, atRiverwood Family Funeral Service. Funeral services are Friday, June24, at 10 a.m. at Riverwood Chapel with burial in Holly SpringsBaptist Church Cemetery.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, KathrynJoyce White; four brothers, Auldon, Hollis, Tom and Brady White;and one sister, Dorothy Nell Herrington.

    He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Sally TurnageWhite; his daughter, Brenda Byrd and husband, James; his son,Darrell White and wife, Guilian; four grandchildren, BonnieThompson and husband, Justin, Chris Byrd, and Kevin White and wife,Alesia, all of Brookhaven, and Lisa Thornell and husband, Chris, ofVicksburg; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Thompson, Leiana, Hollyand Colton Thornell, and James Curtis White; one sister, VoncillePrather, of Pearl; and many nieces and nephews.
