Four facing charges in arson cases

Four area men are facing arson-relatedcharges in two unrelated cases, according to a Friday press releasefrom the Mississippi Forestry Commission.

    Shelton (B.O.) Coleman, 24, of Wesson, and Chester Albert BorneIII, 23, of Hazlehurst, were arrested and charged with four countsof felony woods arson and one count of first-degree arson in theburning of a structure in Copiah County, the release said.

    The two have also been charged with one count of felony woods arsonand two counts of first-degree arson in the burning of twostructures in Lawrence County, according to the release.

    Forestry Commission Fire Investigator Matt Steed said combinedefforts from the commission, the Mississippi Fire Marshal’s Office,and the Copiah and Lawrence counties’ sheriff’s departmentsresulted in a successful investigation.

    The release also said that two Lawrence County men, Jerry StampsSr. and Jerry Stamps Jr., ages and addresses unavailable, have beenindicted by the Lawrence County Grand Jury on multiple counts ofwoods arson in an unrelated case. The two men are also facingpossible indictments in Jefferson Davis County as the result of afour-month investigation into more than 40 different wildfires,according to the release.
