Services for Fred E. Matlock, 76, ofBrookhaven, who died at his residence Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, willbe 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel inNatchez with Bro. Richard Balkcom officiating. Burial will followat Greenlawn Cemetery.

    Visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday until service time at thefuneral home.

    Mr. Matlock was born July 15, 1935, in Maple Springs, Tenn., theson of Eldon Matlock and Exie Franks Matlock. He was a retiredelectrician with the NKC of America in Memphis, Tenn. He was aloving husband, father and friend. Mr. Matlock was always there tolend a helping hand. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a collector ofmany things. He will be greatly missed by his family andfriends.

    Mr. Matlock is preceded in death by his parents; one son, ShawnMatlock; two brothers, Harold Matlock and Rafe Matlock; and onesister, Cornelia Matlock.

    Survivors include his wife, Joyce H. Matlock; one daughter,Jennifer Matlock Smith and husband, Doyle Smith; two grandchildren,Hailey Leggett and husband, Clay Leggett, and Ashton Smith; onegreat-grandchild, Karter Leggett; one sister, Clara Mize;sisters-in-law, Shirley Cannon, Anita Temple and husband, JohnTemple Sr., and Eva Matlock; brother-in-law, Charles B. Hunt Jr.; ahost of nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers will be, Kevin Noble, Darrell Leary, Dwayne Covington,Chris Chain, Stephen Staden and Marell Allen.
