Carl Clayton Summers, 89, a resident ofBrookhaven, died Aug. 31, 2011, at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMedical Center in Jackson.

    Mr. Summers was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Lincoln County to the lateZephaniah “Ziff” Summers and Edna Neal Summers.

    He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and Copiah-LincolnJunior College. He was a retired inspector for Jacobson LawnmowerPlant in Brookhaven. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army havingserved during World War II where he spent two years overseas inItaly as a tank driver.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, MargaretNorris Summers.

    He is survived by two daughters, Susan Summers and Shelley Summers,both of Brookhaven; two grandchildren, Matthew Logan Howard andLacy Davis Johnson and her husband, John; one great-grandchild,Jalyn Page Johnson; a sister, Rachel Means and her husband, Vance,of Brookhaven; his niece, Juda Rich, of Brookhaven; and severalgreat-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.

    Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 4, from 5 until 9 p.m. atBrookhaven Funeral Home, 230 North Jackson St. Funeral services are2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, in the funeral home chapel with burial tofollow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.
