Novice Irene Wiggins Smith, 91, a residentof Brookhaven, died Sept. 17, 2011, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven.

     She was born on Jan. 26,1920, in Oakdale, La., to the late Grover C. Wiggins and CynthiaForman Wiggins. She was a homemaker.

    Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,Herman Howard Smith Sr.; five brothers; and one sister.

     Survivors include herdaughter, Carolyn Smith Rushing, of Brookhaven; two sons, Herman H.Smith Jr., of Brookhaven, and Sid A. Smith and wife, Vicky, ofEdgemont, Ark.; her grandchildren: Debbie Rushing, Lane Rushing andwife, Judy, Shane Smith and wife, Karen, Shawn Smith and wife,Heidi, Brandon Smith and Sid Smith Martin and wife, Michelle; twostep-grandchildren, Haven Rowe and Kevin Beadle; and hergreat-grandchildren, Allison Rushing, Lindsey Rushing, TaylorRushing, Sandra “Sandy” Smith, Carson Smith, Oliver Smith, EmerySmith, Hunter Martin, Makayla Martin, Cross Martin and SloanMartin.

     Funeral services wereMonday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel onNatchez Drive.
