Walter “Jeff” Nettles, 66, of Brookhaven,died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at St. Dominic-Jackson Hospital.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, atPhiladelphia Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in the churchcemetery.      Visitationwill be from 1-2 at the church Sunday. Visitation also was heldSaturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

    Mr. Nettles was born in Brookhaven on June 27, 1945, to ElizabethNorwood Nettles and Walter E. “Ed” Nettles.

    He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School in 1963, the Universityof Southern Mississippi in 1967 and Jackson School of Law in 1969.He worked as an attorney and a petroleum landman. He was a memberof the Mississippi Bar Association and Petroleum LandmanAssociation. He was also a member of Philadelphia BaptistChurch.

    Survivors are his wife, Susan Warren Nettles, of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Wanda Gail Nettles Smith and special friend, SamBradford, of Caseyville; his granddaughters, Mallory and ChloeySmith, of Caseyville; his sisters, Peggy Smith and husband, Marian,of Monterey, La., Kathleen Garren and husband Jim of Foley, Ala., and Becky Vaughn-Furlow, ofBrookhaven and Jackson; his mother-in-law, Christine Warren, ofCaseyville; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and MarshaWarren and Randy and Tina Wooley, of Caseyville; his sister-in-law,Betty Nettles, of Texas; and a host of neices, nephews and otherrelatives.

    Preceeding him in death were his parents; his brother, JamesNettles; his sister, Joyce Nettles Butler; and his father-in-law,Lee Warren.
