Grover David Newman

Funeral services for Grover David Newman, of Wesson, are 2 p.m.on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, with burial inWesson City Cemetery.

Mr. Newman, 89, died Sept. 24, 2011, at Central Mississippi MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Crystal Springs on Jan. 19, 1922to Charles Hooker Newman and Laura Bell Newman.

Mr. Newman served in the United States Army during World War II. Hewas a member of Wesson Baptist Church and a retired mechanic.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, John S. Newman,Frank B. Newman, Dupree Newman, Edsel Newman, Sturgis Newman, HiramNewman, Rupert Newman and Douglas Newman; sisters, Louise Odom,Jimmie Stubbs, Julie Pearl Nicholas and Mary Lorraine Jeffron; andgrandson, Jason Charles Taylor.

Survivors are his daughters, Denise “Neise” Ratliff and husband,Jerry “Buzz”, and Margaret Newman, of Brookhaven; son, RandyNewman, of Brookhaven; brothers, Grady Newman, of Hazlehurst, andWilmer Newman, of Wesson; sisters, Mildred Furgeson, of Livingston,La., and Beatrice Price, of Eight Mile, Ala.; granddaughter, MistySandifer and husband, Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Braden Taylorand Corley Sandifer.
