Funeral services for Ella Lanora FurlowNevels, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.

    Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Nevels, 76, died Sept. 27, 2011, at Silver Cross Nursing Home.She was born in Mississippi on April 23, 1935, to William and EdnaFurlow.

    She was a retired seamstress at Kellwood and a member of PearlhavenBaptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and shewas always ready to be a friend to anyone who needed one. Sheenjoyed working with ceramics and quilting, and loved hercollectibles.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Donald NevelsSr.; and in-laws, James and Margie Nevels, Paul and Ruby Nevels,Virgil and Mildred Stewart, Hayward and Irene Price, Ivan andSammye Nevels, Bob Nevels, and W.E. Nevels.

    Survivors are her sons, Dwayne C. Nevels Sr. and wife, Johnnie andDonnie Nevels and wife, Susan; two grandchildren, Dwayne Nevels Jr.and wife, Hiedi, and Deidra Nevels Lilley and husband, Marc; twogreat-grandchildren, Gavin Nevels and Justin Lilley; in-laws, Jamesand Doris Brown, Ralph and Sue Nevels, Bobie Nevels, Audrey Nevels,and Howard Nevels; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family gives a special thanks to her caregivers at Silver CrossNursing Home.
