Funeral services for James Herman Johnson,of Summit, were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Jones Family FuneralServices, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Glen Bird andThe Rev. Evan Atkins will be officiating.

    Mr. Johnson, 85, died Oct. 1, 2011, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Pike County on Jan. 23, 1926, to John LewisJohnson and Ethel Roberts Johnson.

    He was a veteran, having served in the U.S Navy in the Pacificduring World War II. He retired from ICGRR in McComb where he was asignal foreman, and he was a member of Johnson Station BaptistChurch. He enjoyed coaching young children in football, baseballand other sports, more especially his two sons. He was the kind ofman that once you met him, you knew he was a friend for life. Hewas an exceptional husband, “Daddy” and “Paw Paw” who loved hisfamily unconditionally and was a friend to all who knew him. Hewill be sadly missed.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; mother and father-in-law,Hilton and Myrtle Fenn; sons, Jamie Johnson and Jackie Johnson;brothers, Homer Johnson, Richard Johnson and Jerry Johnson; andthree grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Dustin Johnson, and JoshuaJohnson.

    Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Frances Fenn Johnson, ofSummit; daughter, Sondra Johnson Bell and husband, Randy, of NorthWilkesboro, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Judy Johnson, of Jayess; sixgrandchildren, Randy Johnson, Scott and Mendy Johnson, BrandiWalker, Brooki and Dan Speed, Jayme and Jeremy Wilson and KaylaJohnson; eight great-grandchildren, Haven Johnson, Heidi Johnson,Hib Johnson, Madison Triplett, Alexis Walker, Rylan Wilson, AudrieGrace Wilson, John Speed, and soon to be born Lily Kate Speed; andnumerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host offriends.

    Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Scott Johnson, Butch Johnson,Dan Speed, Chad Reed and Donnie Weeks.

    Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Johnson, Paul Fenn, Bill Rogers,and members of Johnson Station Baptist Church Adult Men SundaySchool Class.
