Graveside services for Alma Olivia Newman,of Wesson, were noon on Monday, Oct. 10, at Riverwood MemorialPark. Riverwood Family Funeral Service was in charge ofarrangements.

    Mrs. Newman, 91, died Oct. 9, 2011, at Golden Living Center inSouthhaven. She was born in Mississippi on April 9, 1920, to JamesLuther Martin Sr. and Edna Alma Leggett Martin.

    She was an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for LincolnCounty Schools and a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. She wasa wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,great-great-grandmother, wife and person.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James FrancisNewman Sr.; brothers, James Luther Martin and Milton Martin; andsisters, Imogene Martin Case, Dorothy Martin Hennis, and Mary AliceMartin.  

    Survivors are her sons, James F. Newman Jr. and wife, Patricia CookNewman, of Gulfport, Thomas R. Newman Sr. and wife, Shirley WarrenNewman, of Wesson, and Douglas Henry Newman and wife, Vickie SmithNewman, of Brookhaven; daughter, Marian Suzanne Newman Lewis andhusband, Frank H. Lewis, of Wesson; brothers, Marvin O. Martin, ofWesson, and Charles Martin, of Brookhaven; sisters, Virginia MartinSebus, of Sparks Nev., Carolyn Martin Waterman, of Yuma, Ariz., andLucille Martin, of Wash.; nine grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
