Funeral services for Samuel Howard Barfoot,of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at DamascusBaptist Church in Franklin County, with burial in the churchcemetery. The Rev. Howard Smith and The Rev. Kent Cochran will beofficiating. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9until 10 a.m., both at the church. .
Mr. Barfoot, 85, died Oct. 17, 2011, at Countrybrook Living Centerin Brookhaven. He was born in Quentin on Feb. 28, 1926, to Sam andEstelle Griffing Barfoot.
He was a good husband, father, grandfather, andgreat-grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his children, Kenneth Barfoot and wife, Nancy, ofBrandon, Joy Barfoot Arnold and husband, Acy, of Brookhaven, JaniceB. Summit and husband, Bill, of Sheridan, Ark., Missy B. Gilliatand husband, Rob, of Natchez, and Keith Barfoot and wife, Tammy, ofMonterey, La.; brother, Thomas Barfoot, of Lucien; sister, WillieNell White, of Oak Grove, La.; 16 grandchildren, Richard Freeman,Renee Freeman Tribble, Stephen Barfoot, Jason Summit, BrandiSummit, Chad Barfoot, Beau Barfoot, Mikel Aswell, Jennifer Mills,Cory Mills, Misty Barfoot Graning, Neal Arnold, Bryan Arnold,Charlotte Cooper, Helen Redfern and Simon Gilliat; and 18great-grandchildren, Caitlin Freeman, Josie Higgins, Megan Burr,Brittany Burr, Charles Brady Barfoot, Kelly Rayburn, Dalton SamuelSummit, Erin Elizabeth Summit, C.J. Barfoot, Bella Barfoot, ColbyBarfoot, Rylan Barfoot, Jash Karabelen, Jace Cooper, Tyler Redfern,Bethany Redfern, Robyn Redferm and Lexi Gilliat.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Barfoot, Jason Summit, Chad Barfoot,Jash Karabelen, Rence Tribble and Jennifer Mills.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Freeman, Beau Barfoot, CoryMills and Bryan Arnold.
