Lady Cougars roar past MRA

MCCOMB – The girls of Brookhaven Academymanaged to stay undefeated Thursday night in Parklane’s GirlsInvitational Tournament. The Lady Cougars used their quickness andstrong defense in the second half to prevail 44-35 over the MadisonRidgeland Academy Lady Patriots.

    In other girls’ action, Jackson Prep thumped Parklane 52-28. In JVaction, Prep’s Lady Patriots marched past the Lady Pioneers47-18.

    The Lady Cougars (3-0) will take a week off before returning toaction Thursday when they visit Clinton, La., to battle theSilliman Institute Lady Wildcats for three games in junior highgirls, junior high boys and varsity girls action. The first gamebegins at 4 p.m.

BA 44, MRA 35

    Senior guard Terah Winborne pumped in a game-high 19 points andgrabbed 7 rebounds to lead the Lady Cougars’ attack. Destiny Allencontributed 8 points and gathered 6 rebounds to help the charge.Carey Crozier helped on the boards with 6 rebounds.

    Senior forward Laura Beth Wright provided assistance in BA’s win asshe dished out 5 assists and battled for 5 rebounds. She alsopumped in 6 points.

    Jessica Whitehead was the offensive leader for the Lady Patriots ofMRA with 13 points.

Prep 52, Parklane 28

    Laurel Bane drained a tournament-high 24 points to lead JacksonPrep. Evans Horsley contributed 11 points.

    The Lady Pioneers were led in scoring with 11 points from TevynChandler.

    In JV action, Addison Smith posted a team-high 16 points to leadthe Lady Patriots of Jackson Prep.

    Delaney Wallace was the offensive leader for Parklane with 8points.
