Thank veterans for U.S. freedoms

Regardless of the activity – whether it berelated to work, family or recreation – our ability to enjoy theendeavor has been preserved and protected through the efforts ofthe men and women of this nation’s armed forces.

    Today, we are taking time in our various ways to recognize andremember the dedication and sacrifices made by our military servicepersonnel. Some people are getting a day off from work while othersmay slip away from their jobs to attend a Veterans Day program orceremony of some sort.

    Several area schools have held their traditional services this weekin honor of veterans. These are often well attended and provide aheartfelt “thank you” to veterans.

    New this year is a Veterans Day gathering in Railroad Park indowntown Brookhaven. Organizers’ hopes for the chamber of commercesponsored-event, held to honor veterans and active-duty personnel,were high and a large crowd was anticipated at the mid-daytribute.

      However one chooses to observeFriday, remember that it is because of veterans and currentmilitary servicemen and women that we are able to celebrate andenjoy the many freedoms we so cherish.
