    J. Allan’s won with 544 votes, approximately 32.6 percent of votescast.

It’s a big win for the business.

“This is our third full month in business, so it’s exciting forus,” said Katie Nations, store manager.

The store’s three windows explored three different rooms of a housedecorated for Christmas. The central and main window featured aliving room, complete with Christmas tree and stockings. Thewindows on either side modeled a dining room and a bedroom.

“We wanted the windows to display that we have a little ofeverything,” Nations said. “We have the rustic, reclaimed thingsbut also other things. We have some of the more modern, shiny stuffin the dining room.”

The store does specialize in furniture made with reclaimed wood, taken from older buildings. Nations said several pieces arecompletely local, including several sideboards made with reclaimedwood – mainly barns – from Lincoln County.

The store also stocks some upholstered furnishings, which Nationssaid are all made in the United States.

Decorating the windows required quite a bit of heavy lifting.

“We moved the whole store around,” Nations said.

That happened on the Tuesday before the Nov. 3 window reveal.Wednesday and Thursday were dedicated to actually crafting thewindow decorations.

The windows were a draw, especially on the night of the windowreveal and the chamber of commerce retail open house Nov. 5.

Stores participating in the window reveal covered their decoratedwindow displays until 5 p.m. Nov. 3.

“We had a lot of people ride by the night it opened,” Nationssaid.

And despite being a recent business, Nations said the store hasdeveloped a following.

“We had a lot of people come in the stores and say, ‘We voted foryou,'” Nations said.

The store is also doing its part to bring non-local shoppers intoBrookhaven. According to Nations, the store sees a “lot of out oftown traffic.”

In The DAILY LEADER’s web poll, Expectations came in second with477 votes. Overall, 1,667 votes were cast in the online poll with21 stores participating in the event.
