Elgin Kelloy Walley

Elgin Kelloy Walley passed Nov. 20, 2011,in his home in Brookhaven. Born on Nov. 21, 1920, in the Sand HillCommunity of Greene County, he attended Jones Junior College andgraduated from Mississippi State University with a master’s degreein Agricultural Education.
Mr. Walley proudly served in the 8th Army Air Corps at Duxford,England during the Second World War. After his honorable discharge,he taught vocational agriculture at Culkin Academy in Vicksburg,Monticello High School and Jefferson High School in Fayette.
In 1967, he accepted employment with the Farmers HomeAdministration in Kemper County and transferred to the Brookhavenoffice in 1971. He retired from federal employment in 1986. Mr.Walley was a member of the Brookhaven Lions Club and the NationalAssociation of Retired Federal Employees.
Mr. Walley was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Warren Countyfor 14 years, where he was ordained as a deacon in 1948. Morerecently, Macedonia Baptist Church honored him as Deacon Emeritusin appreciation for his long and faithful service to his church andhis Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard H. Walley andWillie Edith Byrd Walley; as well as his brothers, Jerrold W.Walley and Richard Hoyt Walley; and his son-in-law, Jimmy L.Clements.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Eva Allen Walley; daughter,Karen Walley Clements; son, Dr. Elgin Kenneth Walley and wifeRebecca, and their sons, Elgin Kenneth Walley Jr. and Richard AllenWalley.
Visitation is at Riverwood Family Funeral Service from 5 until 9p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Additional visitation will be held atMacedonia Baptist Church, Wednesday, Nov. 23, at noon with funeralservices at 1 p.m. and interment in the church cemetery.
