Lady Bears get first victory; W. Lincoln boys blast Jackets

Sophomore center Bentley Sills scored acareer-high 12 points and West Lincoln’s Lady Bears claimed theirfirst win of the season Monday night, beating the host EnterpriseLady Yellow Jackets 38-31. It was West Lincoln’s first victory ineight games.

    In the varsity boys game, West Lincoln overwhelmed Enterprise 90-55as junior forward Lucas Burris poured in 19 points, leading fiveplayers in double figures.

    West Lincoln hosts Loyd Star for four games tonight, starting withthe junior high girls at 4 p.m. Enterprise visits MSD in JacksonThursday for four games.

    The Lady Bears (1-7) got 5 rebounds apiece from Bentley, BethMontgomery and Tamsaha Buckley. Marisa Pruski and Katie Hester eachhad 3 steals, helping their team explode for 16, third-quarterpoints.

     “It was a ragged firsthalf for both teams but we played the best we have all year in thethird quarter and held on for the win,” said WL coach LaneYoung.

    Enterprise (4-4) got 15 points and 5 steals from Caroleah Brister.Center Veonka Sanders had 9 rebounds and 8 steals. Hannah Moak had3 steals and 3 assists.

    “We have to get better at shooting free throws,” said Enterprisecoach Jill Nations. Her team was 7-of-18 from the charity line.

    The Bears (6-2) outscored Enterprise 37-16 in an offensive firstquarter. Joining Burris in double digits were Jared Case with 17points, Duane Marshall with 14,  De Price with 12 and Chase Buckleswith 10.

    On the backboards  Case andBurris each had 6 rebounds. Price had 5 boards. Case chipped in 5assists and 4 steals. Darius Clark had 5 assists.

    “We had a really good first quarter and that allowed us to mix upour players in the second half,”  said Young. “Enterprise is improvingeach game.”

    The Jackets (4-3), coached by John Knight, got 19 points and 6rebounds from Lance Spring. Jarrod Johnson accounted for 14 pointsand 10 rebounds. Grant Brister made 4 assists.

    Junior High Action     Inthe junior high girls game, West Lincoln beat Enterprise 31-20 asAlli Mullins pumped in 17 points. Enterprise got 8 points fromCourtney Greer.

    In the boys game, West Lincoln posted a 37-18 victory as RonnieEdwards tossed in 15 points. The Jackets got 8 points from GeorgeFairman.
