Funeral services for Alice Mae Newman, ofHazlehurst, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Stringer FamilyFuneral Services in Hazlehurst, with burial in Spring HillCemetery.

    Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Newman, 80, died Nov. 30, 2011, at The University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in CopiahCounty on June 25, 1931.

    She was a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County and workedfor Potter Company for 40 years. She was a member of Spring HillBaptist Church.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry “Jack” and FrancesTanner; biological mother, Ora Lee Tanner; husband, Edsel Newman;and brothers, Edgar Tanner and Wade Tanner.

    Survivors are her brothers, Wayne Tanner and wife, Lynda, ofWesson, and Gerald Tanner and wife, Mary, of Jackson; cousin,Sharon Tisdale, of Hazlehurst; nieces, Jennifer Brister, DebbieTanner and Linda Tanner; and nephews, Bruce Tanner and MichaelTanner.
