Robbery spree strikes local gas station

    A string of robberies have occurred at convenience storesin Brookhaven over the past nine days, according to the BrookhavenPolice Department.

    Chief of Police Pap Henderson said four robberies have occurred instores across the city, and he believes it is likely they are allconnected.

    The first occurred on Dec. 19 at Cracker Barrel Convenience storeon Highway 51 North at 2:29 a.m. The next was on Dec 22. At HandyMart – Number 3 on Brookway Boulevard at 9:31 p.m. The third andfourth both occurred at Blue Sky on Brookway Boulevard, the firstDec. 23 at 5:40 a.m. and the second today at 1:53 a.m.

    All four robberies involved a gun, but no one has been injuredduring the robberies. The assailant took an undetermined amount ofmoney from the stores and packs of cigarettes from all but therobbery on Dec. 23.

    Henderson said the burglar had his face covered but is described asa black male who has a skin discoloration on his hands where theskin appears a lighter color. Henderson said it seems as though itis scaring from a burn or a skin disease.

    “Any help the public can give us will certainly be appreciated,”Henderson said.
