Services Thursday for former city alderman Mullen

Funeral services for former Brookhavenalderman Louis M. Mullen are 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at St.Francis of Assisi Church, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park.Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

    Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home andThursday from 9 until 10 a.m. at the church.

    Mr. Mullen, 76, died Jan. 1, 2012, at his home. He was born inMississippi on June 29, 1935, to James Judson Mullen and FrancesBertoli.

    He was self-employed and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.He served for many years as alderman for the city of Brookhaven,serving from 1961 to 1977 and from 1986 to 1997. Mr. Mullen was amember of Brookhaven Exchange Club and the Brookhaven MooseLodge.

    Preceding him in death were his parents.

    Survivors are his wife, Patsy T. Mullen; son, Anthony Mullen andwife, Jill, of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter, Amy Brennan and husband,Jamie, of Birmingham, Ala.; brother, V.J. Mullen and wife, Yvonne,of Spring, Texas; sister, Cora Mae Herring, of Spring, Texas; fivegrandchildren, Andrew Louis Mullen, Rosemary Brennan, CarolineBrennan, Anna Brennan and Christina Brennan; and numerous niecesand nephews.

    Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Center inmemory of Mr. Mullen, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN38148-0142.
