Funeral services for Charlene McManusSmith, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, atBrookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in MacedoniaBaptist Church Cemetery.

    Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Smith, 71, died Jan. 4, 2012, at her home with her family ather bedside. She was born in Eunice, La. on Aug. 18, 1940, toHurley and Dora McManus.

    She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmotherand leaves many fond memories to those who she loved and those wholoved her. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church ofBrookhaven.

    Preceding her in death were her parents.

    Survivors are her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas Howard Smith;daughters, Vanessa Smith Sheppard and husband, David Sheppard Jr.,of Laurel, and Salena Smith Williams and husband, David Williams,of Moss Point; son, Thomas Conn “Jubal” Smith and wife, Kim EvansSmith, of Dallas; grandchildren, Kyle Williams and wife, Sarah,Kris Williams and wife, Jennifer, Kaci Williams and David LeeSheppard III; brother, J.W. McManus, of Eunice, La.; sister, JeneneSmith, of Eunice, La.; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law,Salena Lofton Edwards.

    Serving as pallbearers are Alice Allen, of Tomball, Texas, BettyJohnson, of Brookhaven, Pam Johnston, of Summit, David Lee SheppardIII, of Laurel, Willene Posey, of Brookhaven, Kirk Smith, ofShreveport, La., Kris Williams, of Grand Bay, Ala., and KyleWilliams, of Moss Point.

    Honorary pallbearers are Jean Elliott, of Brookhaven, MarthaMariano, of New Brockton, Ala., Floy Mathis, of Brookhaven,Virginia Peavey, of Brookhaven, Cynthia Smith, of Brookhaven, DorisWinborne, of Brookhaven, Kathie Wittge, of Opelousas, La., and theformer Martha Sinclair First Baptist Sunday School Class.

    The family would like to express deep gratitude to Dorothey Malonefor her loving support of Charlene during her illness.
