Funeral services for Samuel William SmithSr., of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service, with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park.

    Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 5, from 5 until 8 p.m. at thefuneral home.

    Mr. Smith, 61, died on Feb. 1, 2012, at his residence. He was bornin North Carolina on Aug. 27, 1950, to Mary L. Williams.

    He was retired. After a two-year stint in the Army, he spent themajority of his life in the Bay Area of California, where he workedat U.S. Steel and Gold Bond. After relocation to Mississippi in1995, he became an over the road truck driver and then a papercarrier with The DAILY LEADER.

    Preceding him in death were the grandparents who raised him,William Woodrow Smith and Anna Maude Smith; and his granddaughter,Arabella Marie Thomas.

    Survivors are his wife, Barbara Marie Smith; their daughters, AnnaMarie Smith-Thomas and husband, George Perry Thomas, and SandraLouise Smith; their son, Samuel William Smith Jr. and wife, StarlaMarie; six grandchildren, Rachael Anna Thomas, Stephanie DanielleThomas, Matthew Jacob Thomas, Nicholas Mario Marshall III, DrewCutrer and Clay Cutrer; and several brothers, sisters, nieces andnephews.
