Dress shop to be featured on toddler pageant program

A local dress shop has sold a dress to aCrystal Springs family who will be featured on the TLC program”Toddlers and Tiaras.”

    Liz-Beth Pageants, owned and operated by Liz Morgan and BettyJohnson, has sold a dress to Lizzy Lingle, who will be featured inan upcoming episode of “Toddlers and Tiaras” on The LearningChannel. Seven-year-old Lizzy is the daughter of Jennifer and CarlLingle.

    The network will send a film crew on Thursday to film Lingleselecting a dress in the store. Morgan says the South WhitworthAvenue store will be closed to customers that day so the film crewcan work unobstructed.

    Morgan learned of the upcoming filming visit through Lingle’smother.

    “Lizzy’s mother talked with the producer of ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’and told me a film crew would be here to film them picking out thedress,” said Morgan.

    Morgan said TLC would not pay them, but the prestige of beingfeatured on national television was well worth it.

    “They said I would receive no residual, but how many times does asmall shop in Brookhaven make national TV,” said Morgan.

    Liz-Beth Pageants has provided dresses for many homecoming queensand other winners and has even had a Mrs. Mississippi winner, buthas not been featured on television in the past.

    “I’ve had dresses featured on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ before, but ourshop has not been featured until now,” said Morgan.

    Liz-Beth Pageants has been in the beauty business for 40 years,with their Brookhaven store being around for four years now.

    Morgan said her store has sold dresses to people from all over thearea, with customers coming from as far away as Baton Rouge andJackson.

    “People come from literally all over to get dresses from here,”Morgan said. “We’ve had people come from all over the South.”

    Morgan said that Brookhaven is full of great places to shop.

    “This town of Brookhaven is a mecca for good, unique shopping,”said Morgan.

    Another dress shop, Susan’s Shoppe, has also been featured on TVrecently.

    Susan May said their Hattiesburg location was the site of filmingfor another TV pageant show the week of January 25.

    “Jonathan Cain Gillespie, who was featured on ‘Project Runway,’ hasbeen in Brookhaven before and he does a lot of our custom dresses,”said May.

    May said Susan’s has been in business for 14 years inBrookhaven.
