Funeral services for Shelby Chuck Smith, ofBrookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, at First UnitedMethodist Church, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

    Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home andSunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

    Mr. Smith, 76, died Feb. 9, 2012, at his home. He was born inMississippi on Feb. 8, 1936, to Victor and Grace Case Smith

    He was the founder and president of Smith’s Machine & Welding,which started in 1970. He was a member of First United MethodistChurch in Brookhaven, where he was a member of Seeker Sunday SchoolClass. He was also a member of the Exchange Club. Mr. Smith servedin the U.S. Army. 

    Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Jack Smith andHollis Smith; and sister, Eva Nell Britt.

    Survivors are his wife, Patricia Sample Smith; sons, Michael K.Smith and wife, Janet, and Chad S. Smith; sister, Edith Ray Allred;and three grandchildren, Spencer Sample Smith, Sydney Grace Smithand Noah McKay Smith.

    Memorials may be made to Co-Lin Wesley Foundation, King’s DaughtersMedical Center Foundation or the First Methodist Church.
