Funeral services for Norma Adams Sweeney, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sweeney, 83, died Feb. 28, 2012, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Crystal Springs on Aug. 17, 1928, to H.B. and Flo Ervin Adams.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, where she was a worker in Cradle Roll for over 25 years. She was a member of the Exchangettes and devoted her life to her family. Mrs. Sweeney was a loving and caring friend to all who knew her. She loved Jesus and looked forward to being with Him.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother, Floyd B. Adams.
Survivors are her husband of 65 years, Gordon Sweeney; son, Barry Sweeney and wife, Jenny, of Brookhaven; daughters, Scherry Sweeney Gilliland and husband, Max, of Brandon, and Laurie Sweeney Coulter and husband, Tim, of Brandon; six grandchildren, Chad Gilliland and wife, Megan, and Chris Gilliland and wife, Mandi, all of Germantown, Tenn., Christy Sweeney Taylor and husband, Matt, and Steven Sweeney, all of Brookhaven, and Jake and Josh Coulter, both of Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kylie Gilliland; and several nieces and nephews.
