Funeral services for Clyde Esaw Thornton, of McComb, are 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Jones Family Funeral Services, with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Adamson and Dr. David Smith will be officiating.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornton, 71, died Feb. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born in Franklin County on March 1, 1940, to Esaw and Rhoda Johnston Thornton.
He was a distributor (chicken and catfish) for Miss Goldy. He owned and operated Farnhams Café for several years and also owned and operated Moaks Transmission Service for over 27 years. Mr. Thornton loved colleting guns and riding motorcycles.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughters, Kristi Thornton and Tracy Thornton; and brother, Jimmy Thornton.
Survivors are his wife of 19 years, Sherry M. Thornton; son, Reggie R. Thornton, of Summit; brother, John Thomas Thornton, of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters, Mary Middleton and husband, Carey, of Magnolia, Dale Sanders, of Magnolia, and Faye Pistoll, of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Shauna Smith, Tara McGill, Ramsey Thornton, Madison May, Morgan May and Luke Miller; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chance Conerly, Joseph Wooley, Randy Wall, Chuck Harrell, Ramsey Thornton and Terry Etheridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Boots Stringer, Dan Brewer, Doug Touchstone, Seth Touchstone, Freddie Creel and Glen Wren.
