Funeral services for Lenora Buntyn Hunter, of Columbia, are 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, with burial in Philadelphia City Cemetery. McClain-Hays and Hathorn Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hunter, 95, died Feb. 28, 2012, at The Grove in Columbia after an extended illness. She was born on Jan. 17, 1917, to H.E. and Augusta Underwood Buntyn.
She was a graduate of Philadelphia High School, East Central Junior College and Mississippi Southern College (now USM). She taught Home Economics in Ringold and Monticello. Later, she taught elementary school in Wesson, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Hunter was a 50-year member of the Wesson Garden Club and also belonged to the Brookhaven Camellia Society, Day Lily Society, a tatting/crocheting group and a quilting group.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Frank Hunter; and two sisters, Julia Shepherd and Claudie Cumberland.
Survivors are her son, Alan Hunter and wife, Rose; daughter, Martha Morrow; three grandchildren, Emily Hunter Beck and husband, Jody, Christopher Hunter and Angela Morrow Sellers and husband, Maxi; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
