Claude Jennings (Pete) Hale, Jr.

Claude Jennings (“Pete”) Hale Jr., formerly of Baton Rouge, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, Va., at the age of 90.
He was the son of the late Claude J. Hale Sr. and Margaret Thompson Hale, and husband of Mildred Curry Hale, deceased.
Survivors include his daughter, Claudia Hale Andrews (Andy), of Fairfax; his son, Richard Curry Hale (Becky), of New Orleans; and his granddaughter, Anna Catherine Birdsall, of Reston, Va. He is also survived by his brother, William T. Hale (Laura), of Houston; and nieces, Laurie Hale Viada, also of Houston, and Anne Hale, of Philadelphia.
Services were held in the chapel at Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Hawley Wolfe, Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment was at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Mr. Hale was born in Hosston, La., attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, and graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a degree in chemical engineering. During World War II, he served as a naval officer, commanding a patrol craft in anti-submarine service in the Aleutian Islands.
He spent his entire 39-year career with Exxon Pipeline Co., holding the position of division manager, Louisiana-Mississippi Division, when he retired in 1986. His career took him to Shreveport, La., Magnolia Ark., Brookhaven, and finally to Baton Rouge. He loved the game of golf, fueled by making a hole-in-one soon after learning to play.
He was a member of the Broadmoor Presbyterian Church for 43 years. For the past three years he had been living in Fairfax, Va., with his daughter and family.
