James Benton Brown

Funeral services for James Benton Brown, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Friday, March 16, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in New Sight Cemetery. The Rev. Bendon Ginn and the Rev. Matt Powell will officiate.

     Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mr. Brown, 83, died March 13, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Brook Manor. He was born in Bogue Chitto on Nov. 25, 1928, to Otis and Thelma Allred Brown.

     He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of New Sight Baptist Church and a retired cutting room foreman at Stahl Urban Manufacturing Co. in Brookhaven.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Sara Gene Thompson Brown.

     Survivors are his sons, Steve C. Brown and wife, Viola, of Brookhaven, and Daryl R. Brown and wife, Jan, of Winnfield, La.; sister, Betty Brown, of Brookhaven; one grandson, Jason Brown; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Ates and Kristen Ates; three great-grandchildren Caleb Brown, Dawson Brown and Harley Martin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
