Lady Jackets tame Wesson

The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets defeated the Wesson Lady Cobras 7-5 Monday night in Region 7-2A softball action.
Enterprise (5-6, 3-0) took over first place in the division race. Wesson (10-3, 3-1) fell to second, as the second half of the season begins.
“This was a great win,” said Enterprise first-year coach Ashley Jones. “The girls stepped up and hit the ball against a good team. Overall, I was really pleased with the girls’ team effort.”
The Lady Jackets resume action today, hosting the Loyd Star Lady Hornets for another division test. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6.
The Lady Cobras visit Tylertown today to battle the Lady Chiefs. Game time is 5 p.m. for the junior varsity, follow by the varsity at 6.
Enterprise 7, Wesson 5
Softball fans witnessed a tough battle between two unbeaten team in Region 7-2A. Wesson and Enterprise fought back and forth as the Lady Jackets managed to defend home field to gain the win.
Freshman lefthander Hannah Moak pitched the win for Enterprise, collecting six strikeouts and allowed two walks.
Senior MacKenzie Rials suffered the setback for Wesson with three strikeouts and no walks.
Kayla Britt, Kelsey Hux and Moak were the offensive leaders for the Lady Jackets with two singles apiece. Kristen Jergins contributed a double. Hitting safely were Ashley Boyd and Taylor Nelson.
Sarah Robinson paced the Lady Cobras with a triple, a double and a single. Taylor Smith provided a triple and a single. Abbey Smith ripped two singles. Christian Woods singled.
“We did not come ready to play,” said Wesson coach Jackie Johnson. “We cannot expect to win when we make the errors that we did.”
Wesson committed five errors to Enterprise’s four.
In JV action, Wesson crushed Enterprise 9-4. Mary Beth Munn tossed the win for the Lady Cobras with four strikeouts and five walks.
Kaylin Chemin suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with no strikeouts and walks. Reliever Alex Rae Smith had two strikeouts and one walk.
Sabria Green smashed a home run to ignite the offensive explosion for Wesson. Cheyenne Gladden fueled the flames with a double and a single. Haley Chassion contributed two singles. Sky James ripped a double. Hitting safely were Anna Speights, Olivia Allen, Arianna Vaughn and Munn.
Lauren McCaffrey directed the Lady Jackets with a double and a single. Courtney Greer had two singles. Hannah Kirtfield hit safely.
