A Pike County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend, officials said.

Corey Blake McKlemurry, 23, of 1092 Channel Drive, Summit, was killed when his 2002 Ford Mustang convertible ran off the right side of Frances Trail in Lincoln County, flew over a creek, and crashed into a heavily-wooded area on the other side of the creek, according to the accident report.

McKlemurry was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, said Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris.

The accident was reported at 5:21 p.m. Sunday, but the man was probably there much longer, said Sheriff Steve Rushing.

“The car crashed into a very heavily wooded area that was not easily visible from the road,” Rushing said. “The last contact the victim had with anyone was Saturday afternoon.”

According to the accident report, McKlemurry is believed to have lost control of his vehicle and driven off the road, but Rushing said the crash remains under investigation.

McMorris sent McKlemurry’s body to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson for an autopsy.

Jones Family Funeral Service in McComb is in charge of arrangement. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
