Funeral services for Martha Dixon Laird, of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

     Mrs. Laird, 83, died April 14, 2012, at her home. She was born in Lincoln County on May 28, 1928, to Ransom and Florence Lofton Dixon.

     She was a homemaker and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James “J.K.” Laird; and brother, Hulon Dixon.

     Survivors are her sons, George Laird and wife, Sarah, Billy Laird and wife, Cindy, Dwaine Laird and wife, Carolyn, and James Herman Laird and wife, Alma; daughter, Diane Laird Gill and husband, David, all of Brookhaven; sisters, Margaret Case and Mary Terry; 10 grandchildren, Dakota Laird, Candace Laird, Jeffrey Gill, Matt Gill, Jennifer Ezell and husband, Jay, Sara Breann Rutledge and husband, Josh, Michael Laird and wife, Randi, Jake Laird, Jonathan Laird and Caroline Laird; three great-grandchildren, Sara Aubren Ezell and Cadence and Amelia Laird; and special friend, Sister Jema.
